Practice Areas

John Fisher’s remarkable career as an attorney at law has seen him work in a variety of legal fields, with each one playing an important role in the development of his legal expertise. Whether it’s a personal injury case or a medical malpractice case, he is able to utilize his knowledge of the law to achieve the best possible result for his clients through expert representation in settlements and at trial.
He has represented clients throughout New York, focusing on the need for aggressive representation to pursue compensation. He has experience with accidents, including motorcycle accidents, train accidents or a case involving a bicycle, and each instance has provided him the ability to look at myriad details about an accident and turn them into a strong argument for his client. Whether it’s gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses or examining a client’s medical records, he can provide a compelling case that will be considered by the judge and jury.
Along the way, he has joined in the rare challenge of taking on a medical malpractice case. Instances of medical malpractice are often difficult to prove, as there are many situations where a doctor’s actions might have needed to be reviewed more carefully, but there is little actual evidence of wrongdoing. Fisher is able to argue the most compelling medical malpractice case and help his client receive a settlement or jury decision in their favor.

High-Profile Cases and Wins

Throughout his career, John Fisher has encountered various memorable clients and cases that stand out. He frequently reflects on several in particular: One of the most catastrophic events in U.S. history prompted a turn in Mr. Fisher’s career path. When two planes struck the Twin Towers in New York City on September 11, 2001, Mr. Fisher, then a senior associate in a corporate real estate legal group, was assigned to the deal for the purchase of the site. His work on the real estate transaction drew commendations from the senior partners in the group. In 2005, he went into business for himself, and has never looked back. Mr. Fisher represented a casino employee who suffered a debilitating back injury on the job, leaving them unable to work or support themselves – their whole career ahead of them had been ripped away. The insurance company claimed that the claimant was faking their injuries, but the jury did not buy the insurance company’s argument, and decided in the claimant’s favor. Another memorable case involved a client whose mortgage escalated when the lender’s FICO credit score inaccurately led to him being classified as a lower credit risk, resulting in exorbitant fees. The lender settled favorably in the client’s favor. One case that stands out in Mr. Fisher’s mind was a real estate family dispute, which ended in a defendant verdict. Mr. Fisher was proud of the way his client team tried the case. The verdict was even larger than the offer the defense had made. One of Mr. Fisher’s favorite clients was a single grandmother who had a huge family of grandchildren. The family was very close. But shortly after the grandmother died, a family feud erupted over the future of a family heirloom property, a home in St. Croix. When in his early 30s, John Fisher found himself before the New Jersey Supreme Court in a matter involving eminent domain and property. When the State condemned a roadway, Mr. Fisher had represented the property owner. The Jersey State League of Municipalities called it "one of the biggest property cases in New Jersey’s history."
